Abstract/Contents:"This study was conducted on a 'Penncross' bentgrass green at the Turf Research Center - University of Missouri at Columbia, Missouri. The green profile is a 12 inch base of 90% sand and 10% peat over drains and pea gravel. The 'Penncross' was established in the Fall of 1992. The green was mowed three to four times per week at 0.156 inches. Fertility levels were maintained at a high level with 0.5 lbs of nitrogen per 1000 square feet being applied every two to three weeks. Moisture conditions were maintained at optimum levels with daily syringes to keep surface temperatures below 85°F. Fungicide treatments were initiated 9 June and sequentially applied on 22 June, 29 June, and 6 July based on the recommended application interval for the fungicides. On 9 June, air temperature was 66°F, soil temperature was 61°F at 3", and 85% humidity. On 22 June, air was 95°F, soil was 70 °F, and 85% humidity. On 29 June, air was °F, soil was 66°F, and 60 % humidity. On 6 July, air was 89°F, soil was 72°F, and 70% humidity. Plots were 5 foot by 5 foot replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block. Treatments were applied with a CO₂ backpack sprayer, walking 3 mph, using TeeJet XR8008 tips delivering 56 gpa at 20 psi. Brown patch was already present on 9 June with the first application of fungicides. However, all plots received 1 ounce of tall fescue seed inoculated with Rhizoctonia solani. The inoculum was sprinkled in the center of each plot on 16 June to insure a uniform infection. Evaluations for color and infection were taken on 20 June, 29 June, 5 July, and 12 July."
