Abstract/Contents:An evaluation of effectiveness of fungicides for pythium control over a 6-week period. Application rates varied with plots and different fungicides. "Treatments were initiated twice during the season (6-16-93 and 8-18-93). Pythium was inoculated on 7-14-93, 7-20-93, and 8-24-93. Even though we inoculated three times, pathogen populations were low. Night time temperatures were too low, however, we did cover plots with greenhouse cooling pads at night to get mycelium to grow. A rating was taken based on the mycelium growth after one night of covering the plots in early September. All treatment had no phyto observed. All treatments were significantly better than the control. The control plot had an infection rate of 15%, while all treatments were rated 5% or less."
