Abstract/Contents: | "Previous work in our laboratory (Plant Physiol 68(1981):1110) has established that a decaploid genotype, designated I-16-2, of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) displayed high rates of photosystem I (PS I)-mediated tetramethyl phenylene diamine (DAD) to methyl viologen electron transport. Lithium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis analysis of PS II and PS I subchloroplast components indicated several polypeptide differences. Isolation of purifed plastocyanin from both genotypes allowed production of antibodies so that plastocyanin in crude-leaf extracts could be quantified. Results indicate that several differences in PS I composition and plastocyanin pool sizes could explain the increased electron flow from DAD to plastocyanin through PS I to methyl viologen." |
