Hurdzan: | "Written long ago before Ross, who hailed from the Scottish links, assumed his pre-eminent status in the golf hierarchy, the manuscript was discovered by architect David Gordon who gave it to the ASGCA. Its publication was sponsored by the Society with Ron Whitten as editor. Ross was accessible, friendly, casual, off the cuff, and personable. You became his friend, confidant and compatriot soon after meeting him. He was funny, irreverent and never took himself too seriously and it all comes through in this long lost manuscript. Yet one suspects that despite his patience, Ross 'did not suffer fools gladly' and could be gruff on occasion." p. 95 |
