Abstract/Contents:"More fungicides are applied for dollar spot and Rhizoctonia blight (brown patch) than any other turf diseases in New England. For economic and environmental reasons, it is desirable to reduce these applications, but that is difficult to do for intensively maintained turfgrass. Dollar spot occurs throughout the warmer months. In contrast, Rhizoctonia blight is much more sporadic in New England and is concentrated in the hotter months of summer. New England summers are well known for their variable weather patterns in which hot, humid weather can quickly change to cool, dry conditions. This changeable weather suggests that routine calendar application of fungicides for Rhizoctinia blight are probably unnecessary." Subtopics include; cultural practices, disease forecasting, rhizoctonia blight forecasts using environmental factors, rhizoctonia blight forecasts using reveal immunoassay kits, diagram of the reveal diagnostic kit and meter, and testing the forecasting systems.
