Abstract/Contents: | "Everyone in the seed industry is familiar with the hows, whys, and wherefores of protecting seed varieties through the use of patent law, Plant Variety Protection certificates, and the federal and state seed laws. Methods, processes, and other information, such as customer lists, are commonly protected under state trade secret statues. However, there are two other vitally important ways for seed breeder-developers to protect their multi-million-dollar investments in the research, development, and marketing if their products- the trademark and unfair competition laws." |
