Abstract/Contents: | Discusses a new golf course built in Harstad, Norway. Located north of the Arctic Circle, it is the closest golf course to the North Pole. It is the first golf course in the area. The closest up to that point had been in Bjorkliden, Sweden, some 90 miles away. Sverre Kulseng, the man in charge of the project, knew very little about golf course construction, and was working with a very limited budget. Swedish golf course architects proved to be too expensive, so he and some friends took sketches and built the course themselves. The golf course will be finished in the summer of 1997. |
