Abstract/Contents:Discusses the Thomas Fisher vs. City of South Portland, Maine lawsuit. Tom Fisher was killed on July 20, 1990 while golfing at the South Portland Municipal Golf Course when lightning struck him. "The jury, after deliberatng for 2 and 1/2 hours, delivered a verdict which found the city somewhat responsible for Mr. Fisher's death but found, pursuant to Maine law, that Mr. Fisher's responsibility was equal to or greater than the responsibility of the city. The jury found the city not liable for the death of Thomas Fisher." Discusses other details of the case and possible methods of prevention of future accidents.
