| Abstract/Contents: | "Thirty cultivars of Poa pratensis were evaluated for 4 years for severity of leaf spot caused by Drechslera sorokiniana. Each successive year showed a decrease in leaf density and an increase in leaf spot among all cultivars. Only Adelphi showed good resistance to D. sorokiniana; Merion, Olymprisp, Rugby, and South Dakota Certified showed moderate resistance. The remaining cultivars showed little resistance. It was concluded that little resistance to D. sorokiniana exists among the cultivars evaluated and that the annual increase in the severity of leaf spot on maturing cultivars of P. pratensis probably is related to inoculum potential and necessitates that field evaluations of resistance be conducted on mature stands of grass." |
