Abstract/Contents:"This study was conducted on a `Penncross' bentgrass green at the Turf Research Center-University of Missouri at Columbia, Missouri. The green profile is a 12 inch base of 90% sand and 10% peat over drains and pea gravel. The `Penncross' was established in the Fall of 1992. During the course of the study, the green was mowed each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 0.156 in. The green received 0.38 lbs of nitrogen per 1000 sq ft every 3 weeks. Moisture levels were maintained through infrequent watering plus daily syringes as needed to keep surface temperatures down. Fungicide treatments were initiated 14 Jun and sequentially applied on 28 Jun, 5 Jul, 10 Jul, and 24 Jul based on the recommended application interval for each treatment. Plots were 5 ft x 5 ft replicated 4 times in a randomized complete block. Treatments were applied with a CO² backpack sprayer, walking speed of 3 mph, using TeeJet XR8008 tips delivering 56 gpa at 20 psi. Brown patch was already present on 14 Jun with the first application of fungicides. Evaluations for color, quality, and % infection were taken on 15 Jul and 26 Jul. Color was rated on a scale of 1 to 9 with 9 being equal to the darkest green. Quality was rated on a scale of 1 to 9 with 9 equal to the best. Percent infection was rated on a scale of 0 to 100 equal to complete coverage of the plot by the disease. Quality generally ran high, except for treatments containing Rizolex (15 Jul) or where % infection was high (26 Jul). All treatments gave significantly better control of brown patch than the untreated control (26 Jul), except IB 10351 at 1.0, 0.7 and 0.5 oz, EXP10715A + Dithane at the lower rate, and EXP10715A used alone."
