Abstract/Contents:In trials in 1965-6 with 4 cocksfoot cultivars sown at 25, 30 and 40 kg seed/ha and 2 tall fescue cultivars sown at 25, 35 and 46 kg/ha, CP content increased until the 3-4th cut and decreased in the 5th cut, while the NFE content decreased until the 4th cut and increased in the 5th cut. CF contents increased from the 1st to the 5th cut and differences between species and cultivars were found. In cocksfoot the highest protein content was in cv. Floreal and in fescue the highest protein and lowest CF contents were in cv. Ky. 31. Increasing sowing rate also increased protein content.
