Abstract/Contents:"Saving its natural, unspoiled characteristics is the primary goal at Robert Allerton Park and Conference Center, near Monticello, Illinois. The property is owned by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. High quality turf is maintained on approximately 100 acres of formal gardens and terraces. Keeping turf in top form while incorporating ecologically sound stewardship can be challenging when nature conspires to present obstacles that include low air movement and high humidity. Careful attention to mowing, fertilizing, and applying broadleaf control is essential."
