Abstract/Contents: | In exposed-layer drying tests, seeds of perennial ryegrass cv. S23 and hybrid ryegrass cv. Sabel were dried at air temperatures of 13-63 deg C and 7-94% r.h. The drying curves were best fitted by a 2-term exponential, but the series equation for diffusion through an infinite plate could also be used. Varietal differences in drying rate were due to differences in size. Expected differences due to difference in size of ryegrass and cereal seeds were reduced by lower diffusivity of the ryegrass seeds. Final moisture contents were not affected by cultivar. |
