| Abstract/Contents: | The Gentner fluorescence test was evaluated to establish the effect of different experimental conditions on the results. The paper used as germination substrate, the use of distilled water and conditions during seed production did not affect the proportion of fluorescent grains determined. Different results were obtained depending on whether the seed originated from the 1st or 2nd cut. In the Italian ryegrass cv. tested (Tetila, Amenda, Optima, Asso) the percentage of fluorescent grains was never as high as 100%. |
