| Abstract/Contents: | In a study over four generations of the resistance of 14 varieties (seven diploid, seven tetraploid) to Puccinia coronata, five varieties were eliminated from consideration because of excessive susceptibility. The gain in resistance during selection was generally similar in diploids and tetraploids; the tetraploid Meritra showed little change. The resistance seemed to be due to numerous additive factors. A comparison of resistance in the greenhouse with resistance in the field showed better agreement in 1976 than in 1977. |
