| Abstract/Contents: | Describes the operations of the Coffin Butte Landfill, operated by Valley Landfills, Inc. of Corvallis, Oregon. The landfill's operations include several innovative programs. Wood, yard trimmings and street sweepings are recycled at the landfill, and landfill biogas is used to generate electricity for a local electricity consortium. The landfill's policies are designed to comply with government regulations, protect the environment and increase profits for the landfill operators. |
