| Abstract/Contents: | "Plots were laid out in one acre squares (210' X 210') with three replicates each of treated and untreated check. Treatments of Merit 0.5G at 0.4 lb AI/acre were applied on 1 Aug utilizing a Herd GT-77 Seed Spreader (Herd Seed Co., Logansport, IN) mounted on a Ford tractor. A swath of 21 feet was assigned and the vehicle operated at 4.0 mph. RIFA population levels were assessed in 0.25 acre subplots in the center of each treatment plot immediately prior to and at 6 and 12 weeks post-treatment using a population indexing system (Lofgren and Williams, 1982. J. Econ. Entomol. 75:798-803). Data were analyzed for treatment differences using ANOVA and Tukey test. Merit treatments significantly reduced RIFA populations below that of the untreated check at 12 weeks post-treatment. No phytotoxicity was noted." |
