Abstract/Contents:States that "overseeding lessens the east-to-west [grain] effect during the winter months but it is still apparent." Explains this effect as putting "'into the wind' or 'with the wind' ...[but] 'grain' is more accurate...This phantom 'grain' is most important on a putt the golfer reads as dead straight." States that "[the author has] yet to find bermuda greens more than 1 year old in the Southeast or the islands that do not have 'grain' running generally from east to west."
