Abstract/Contents:"The hemiparasite, Odontites verna (Scrophulariaceae), has previously been reported to have strongly negative allelopathic interactions with certain perennial grasses and leguminous crops (including several proven host species). In this study, applications of leachates from living and dead foliage of O. verna on seeds and seedlings of two grass and two legume species had no significant effects on germination and negative growth in most treatments. Two exceptions were germination in Medicago sativa (increased) and leaf production in Poa pratensis (decreased)."
