Abstract/Contents:Discusses the difficulties in maintaining turf in stadiums with low light and ventilation. Suggests that moveable turf, which can be grown and maintained outdoors until needed, is a good solution but a costly one. Cites the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit and the 1994 World Cup as examples of the success of moveable turf. Also discusses modifications to stadiums such as clear panels to help increase light. Notes that the best solution is probably developing new turf cultivars that can endure stadium conditions.
