Abstract/Contents: | Discusses a new method of landscaping rooftops, the Green Roof System. Advantages include: improving the thermal and acoustical insulation of the building, using a minimum of only 100 mm of substrate (which reduces weight on the roof), the system is mostly self-sustaining, and it is affordable. Also, because the substrate does not contain top soil (with all the weed seeds), weeds do not pose a problem. Suggests that with increased public awareness, Green Roofs will be used more frequently. |
