| Abstract/Contents: | Suggests background reading be done to help superintendents set up the right product testing program. Limiting the number of treatments to a manageable number can help save time. In areas that are not homogeneous more replications are needed in two or more locations, for example greens and fairways. Most experiments are done on small plots in one area like a green or one tee. The author recommends plots 4 ft x 4 ft but the usual small plot is 5 ft x 10 ft. If new equipment is not desired supers can use their old equipment on three areas rather than one. Using randomization can help to include the varibility of turf factor. Accuracy and precision help in obtaining good results. |
