Abstract/Contents:Discusses fungi that pose problems in mulches and composts, including: shotgun or artillery fungus (Sphaerobolus), slime molds, Verticillium dahliae, and the plant pathogen Rhizoctonia solani. Describes the advantages and disadvantages of using fresh or composted mulch. Also discusses the temperature, pH, and moisture content of mulches, and how they relate to fungal problems.
