Abstract/Contents:Discusses tips for convincing golf club superiors that a tree maintenance budget is necessary before adding more trees to the course. Tips include: develop a hole-by-hole inventory of existing trees, estimate a current replacement value for those trees, identify specimens with poor health, utilize an arborist to confirm the poor health, identify species undesirable for courses, estimate pruning frequency and costs to trim each tree, and have a golf course architect develop a long-range program to identify strategic tree locations.
