Abstract/Contents:Editorializes on the increasing demand from golfers for consistent playing conditions. What most golfers, turf managers, and others involved seem to forget is that they are dealing with a natural system. There are constant complaints about the sand consistency, and even the lies in fairways and roughs. It is unrealistic to expect to take the variability out of the game and even if it were feasible it would take the uniqueness out of the sport.
