Abstract/Contents:Discusses the reasons for the decline of Tifdwarf hybrid bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon X Cynodon transvaalensis) in southern and southeastern regions of the United States. The main reason discussed is the pathogen Gaeumannomyces graminis var. graminis. Describes visual symptoms of the pathogen infestation and methods to combat it. Methods discussed include: applying moderate nitrate and high potassium levels, feeding weekly, raising the cutting height, maintaining a positive water balance, and using fungicides when the pathogen attacks the root system.
