| Abstract/Contents: | Defines aeration and describes traditional methods of core aeration. Discusses a recent trend in using alternative techniques for turf aeration. Deep-tine aeration is similar to hollow-tine aeration except that it allows for deeper penetration into the soil profile, up to 24 inches. Water-injection systems are high pressure systems that force small streams of water through the soil profile. Soil-shattering units penetrate into the soil and create a twisting action that shatters the soil. Also provides factors to consider when purchasing new or used aeration systems. Includes pictures and descriptions of some specific aeration products. |
