Abstract/Contents:Presents results from a study conducted at Pennsylvania State University examining surface runoff from golf courses. Tests were designed to determine the water-holding capacity of thatch, the interception of water by verdure and the hydraulic resistance that turf creates for surface-water movement. Describes how each test was conducted in detail on bentgrass and ryegrass, and organizes the data into tables and graphs. Concludes that creeping bentgrass rather than perennial ryegrass shoud be used for golf courses with runoff concerns.
