Abstract/Contents: | Profiles the grassland management techniques of the Dyke Golf Club, located at Sussex Downs in Britain. Provides a historical account of the Sussex Downs occupation during the First and Second World Wars. The area, composed of chalk grassland, has become threatened with invading coarse grasses, scrub and woodland. The golf club has encouraged the re-establishment of chalk grassland by clearing scrub and creating an ecological management plan with the help of the South Downs Conservation Board in 1994. |
