Abstract/Contents:Presents the results of a study examining the use of degree days to predict smooth crabgrass seedling emergence. Turfgrass was maintained at two mowing heights and degree days, air temperature, soil temperature, and crabgrass emergence were monitored. Crabgrass seedling emergence and degree days (calculated from soil temperatures) were used to develop a weed population model which represented actual crabgrass seedling emergence over two years.
