| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses an experiment conducted to investigate which cultivars of tall fescue are most wear resistant. Reports that "under high maintenance conditions, the improved low-growing turf-type tall fescue cultivars from a dense turf...is [are] more resistant to wear than some of the dual-purpose cultivars first used for turf." Also reports that "all tall fescues recovered much faster from spring wear than from fall wear" and "the shorter day lengths of fall reduce the vegetative growth more dramatically in the improved low-growing cultivars than the dual-purpose cultivars." |
