| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses how "many cycles of phenotypic assortive mating followed by phenotypic and genotypic recurrent selection combined with a modified population backcrossing program" led to the development of more turf-type plants. Briefly discusses genetic improvements of Kentucky bluegrasses, bentgrasses (creeping, velvet, brown, colonial, dryland or Highland, Redtop), fescues (creeping red, sheeps, blue), orchardgrass, zoysiagrass, bermudagrass, and legumes (white dutch clover, strawberry clover, birdsfoot trefoil, turf-type alfalfa, crown vetch, perennial sweet pea). |
