Abstract/Contents:"Knowledge of leaf features associated with turfgrass performance during drought is important for improving drought resistance of turfgrass. The objective of the study was to investigate major leaf characteristics that could contribute to drought resistance in tall fescue cultivars. Turf quality was evaluated as a drought resistance indicator. Turf quality and various leaf morphological, anatomical, and physiological characteristics were examined in 12 cultivars under well-watered conditions and during drought stress. Cultivars vary significantly in ET, leaf water potential, stomatal density, epicuticular wax content, tissue density, leaf width, and specific leaf area. Turf quality during drought ws positively related to leaf water potential and tissue density, but negatively related to specific leaf area."
