Abstract/Contents:"Compost used on turf is being encouraged by government agencies to reduce solid waste flow to landfills. The objective of this study was to evaluated the effect of soil-incoporation of composts on turfgrass clipping growth and quality and on N retrieval by St. Augustinegrass. Three compost sources: Palm Beach County (PBC), Bedminster (BED), Enviro-Comp (EC), and a control were included in the study. Compost was rototilled at a rate of 0.4 cu. meter into a fine sand soil. Turfgrass quality was improved and clipping growth was increased by compost incorporation for over three years. PBC had the highest turfgrass quality and growth. N recovery in clippings ranged from 7.32% for pBC to 3.76% for EC."
