Abstract/Contents:"Nine combinations of greens rootzone mixes and drainage systems were evaluated for nitrogen flow through the rootzones at least monthly, beginning in the summer of 1998 and weather permitting. Rootzone mixes included modified USGA greens, California greens, and native soil, push-up greens. Drainage systems included 10 cm flat drains, 30.5 cm perforated drains, and no drainage. Leachate samples were collected using four 30.5 cm suction lysimeters placed on each of 18 greens at a golf course located in Scituate, MA. Through 1998, no greens mix averaged nitrogen leachate levels higher than the accepted drinking water standards. Results through 1999 will also be included in the presentation."
