Abstract/Contents:Discusses sports facility design. Focuses on the use of scale models tested in wind tunnels and computer simulations to solve wind problems including: wind loading on the main structural systems, wind loading on cladding, snow loads, spectator comfort, air quality, wind-induced vibrations, wind loads on roof drive and braking systems, mechanical heating and air conditioning, rain infiltration, noise and acoustics, and wind affects on the play of the game. Also focuses on the return to natural grass playing surfaces, analyses of available sunlight for plant growth, and turf ventilation.
