Abstract/Contents: | Addresses a problem presented by a landscape contractor. Large trees and shrubs were dying during the wet season despite having dry wells and tiles installed. An inspection discovered that the wells were flooded and the surrounding soil saturated. "Unfortunately, unless the dry wells are dug until they encounter some kind of a loose substratum or layer that will drain, they quickly fill with water and cease to function." Suggests daylighting the tile system, using pea gravel, connecting to a storm sewer system, planting on a berm, or installing sump pumps to pump the dry wells. |
