| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study "to assess the effectiveness and frequency of commonly used procedures for the control of thatch accumulation on newly constructed, sand-based bentgrass putting greens. Results...indicate that the most effective form of thatch control used in this study was the application of small quantities of sand topdressing at a frequency of every two to three weeks depending on turf growth rates." Discusses effects of experiment on organic matter content, infiltration rate, root depth and root mass, and surface hardness. |
