| Abstract/Contents: | "Larvae of the fall armyworm annually cause damage to most of the warm-season turfgrasses. Terminal stolons of common bermudagrass were dipped in the appropriate dilutions of BioCide-TRF^D]T^D]M (Mycotrol GH-ES) Beauveria bassiana (2.0 x 10¹³ conidia/qt), and placed on two water-saturated filter papers (for constant humidity) in each feeding chamber in the lab. Three randomly selected 5-d-old larvae were introduced into each 9-cm-diam. x 15-mm-deep plastic feeding chambers labeled for the respective treatment in a RCB design with 7 reps. Silwet (0.04%) was added to each treatment as a wetting agent to ensure good coverage. Treatments were observed daily for mortality. Larvae treated with the highest dose (1:100 dilution) of BioCide-TRF^D]T^D]M exhibited high mortality of 61.4% at 5 d, 90.3% by 8 d, and 95.3% were dead within 15 d of inoculation. The only other inoculation to provide any control was the 1:1,000 dilution which provided 23.8% by 15 d, and 33.3% within 20 d of inoculation." |
