Abstract/Contents:"Sequential applications (ranging from one to four) of imazaquin herbicide were applied to 100% pure stands of purple nutsedge during the summers of 1988 and 1989. Treatments were applied every two weeks. Maximum suppression for plots receiving only one application was reached one month after application (25% control). A second 14-day sequential applications achieved 60% control two weeks after the second treatment was applied. Three applications were necessary in both years to achieve 85% control. Late-season control was greater in 1989 than in 1988 for plots that received either three or four applications. Repeat applications are necessary to reduce highly infested purple nutsedge stands maintained under sward conditions."
