| Abstract/Contents: | "Five experimental preemergence herbicides and DCPA were applied to Kentucky bluegrass and creeping red fescue. All chemicals injured red fescue more than bluegrass except EL-131. Granular A-820 controlled crabgrass better on both bluegrass and red fescue than the other chemicals at the highest rate applied, however three of the experimentals (PPG-139 5G, EL-131, and AC-92390) were comparable to DCPA. CGA-10832 gave good control, but caused unacceptable thinning of bluegrass and red fescue at the high rate. An experimental formulation (6F) of DCPA was also tested and controlled crabgrass comparable to the granular and wettable powder formulations with slightly less injury to red fescue. CGA-17020 and the flowable formulation of PPG-139 did not sufficiently control crabgrass. The wettable powder formulaiton of A-820 was comparable to DCPA, but required slightly higher rates than the granular and caused slightly more injury to red fescue." |
