| Abstract/Contents: | "Crabgrass control with preemergence herbicides has been one of the great success stories of the current turf era. While several herbicides have been used successfully on turf for 10-15 years, there still remians the need for increased efficiency and added safety to the turfgrasses. On occasions (2) various herbicides have appeared less effective in a water spray than in a granular form. In 1971 a new herbicide, A-820, showed promise of good crabgrass control and safety to the turf. Prior to this, an experimental compound, RP-17623, has given good crabgrass control (1). In 1972 tests were run to: (1) obtain additional data on the performance of these two herbicides; (2) compare the relative efficiency of various aniline herbicides; (3) determine their effectiveness on goosegrass; and (4) check on performance of these and several herbicides when applied as spray vs. dry application." |
