| Abstract/Contents: | "In 1994, GCSAA conducted a comprehensive evaluation of all its programs and services. Surveys were sent to more than 9,400 members and nearly 8,000 non-members. The evaluation provided strong feedback regarding what kinds of research superintendents needed and insight into how research funding programs should be designed to meet those needs. GCSAA's Research Department was created and funding programs established. The National Research Program was created to fund turfgrass research programs with broad, national or regional scope. It offers opportunity to partner with other national organizations such as USGA and NTEP. The Chapter Cooperative Research Program was created to partner with affiliate chapters to fund locally relevant research. This program has been recently expanded to also partner with state and regional turfgrass associations and foundations, as well as state golf associations. Most recently, in response to member demands, the Industry Partners Research Program has been created to conduct product testing on golf courses. Current participation in these programs and future research funding trends will be discussed." |
