Abstract/Contents:Discusses the banning of methyl bromide for preplant fumigation on turf which will begin on January 1st, 2005. Summarizes the history of methyl bromide and the importance of fumigation for weed-free sod and sprigs. Also addresses the debate concerning how much methyl bromide actually contributes to ozone depletion. Discusses alternatives to methyl bromide, including methyl iodide, which "performed well against the weedy grasses, nutsedge species and broadleaf weeds."
