Abstract/Contents:Discusses the effect of a mild winter on insect populations. States that "insect populations will most likely be higher than normal," but abiotic and biotic factors will ultimately determine the outcome. States that "barring any late winter or early spring 'hard' freezes or spring monsoons or flooding, 2001 may result in a 'good' year for insects," especially Japanese and May/June beetles. Suggests that closely monitoring and periodically sampling turf are the best prediction strategies.
