| Abstract/Contents: | In field trials Kikuyu grass responded significantly to GA at 50-150 g/ha on plots given 135 kg N/ha at one site (945 m alt., 17.8 deg C minimum soil temperature at 5 cm) and on plots given 180 kg N at a 2nd site (660 m alt., 19 deg ). Pangola grass at 625 m alt., responded to GA at both N levels. In all 3 trials GA caused rapid increases in sward height for about 14 days after application. GA was less effective at 50 than at 75-100 g/ha, and 2 applications (1/cut) of 50 g/ha gave better yields than 1 application of 100 g/ha. Growth reductions following cutting of GA-treated swards were overcome by a 2nd application of 50 g GA/ha. |
