| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the role image plays in success for the golf course superintendent. States that "as sad as it may seem, reality states that each of us is judged by such petty criteria as what we wear, what kind of car we drive, how we talk, our manners, our physical apearance, cleanliness, grooming and so on. We can laugh, joke and say we don't care about such subjects as image, but the fact remains that non-grass-growing deficiencies in our professional arsenal can overshadow our strong agronomic skills...It would be nice to think that simply providing acceptable golf conditions would be enough to satisfy our employers. Today, it may take much more than good course conditions to meet the expectation of those we work for. An image campaign or public relations plan does take time and effort, but the dividends can be tremendous." |
