Abstract/Contents:Discusses how to how to prevent winter damage to bermudagrass. States that excessive traffic on frozen crowns, standing water, moisture deficiency, potassium deficiency, excessive thatch, excessive fall nitrogen fertilization, excessive desiccation, close mowing, shade on bermudagrass, cultivar susceptibility to low temperature damage, and pest or pesticide damage are all factors that can lead to winterkill. Also discusses environmental factors influencing bentgrass growth and development, such as how temperature affects root development, how differences in air and soil temperature can be beneficial or harmful to bentgrass, and how soil aeration influences root growth.
