| Abstract/Contents: | "The hypothesis was made that research databases maintained by basic manufacturers of agricultural chemicals could be leveraged to help guide management decisions on minor weed problems. Two minor weed problems, kudzu (PUELO) and kochia (KCHSC), identified in Illinois and Indiana were chosen as subjects of a database search. A search of the DOW AgroSciences Global Field Research data archive on kudzu and kochia returned 576 and 3484 observations, respectively. Data for weeds were categorized according to levels of control and duration of control. Ten treatments were identified which provided 100% control of kudzu 2 years following application. Twenty treatments were identified which provide 100% control of kochia at 8 weeks after application. This research confirmed that research databases of basic manufacturers of agricultural chemicals, when used in conjunction with knowledge of crop production and local use requirements, could successfully be used to guide management decisions for minor weed problems." |
