Abstract/Contents:Discusses the importance of air flow in turfgrass and green maintenance. Identifies sunlight penetration and air movement as crucial factors which determine turfgrass conditions. States that drier conditions and healthier turfgrass are reached by the combination where "air movement across the green produces a drying effect for the soil and increases the evapotraspiration rate of the plant." Suggests some solutions for environments of lacking these conditions. Gives guildelines for fan installation which include targeting the poorest green growing environments; providing electrical power; and determining where you tap into electricity from. Discusses proper placement of fans; the determination of the height and location, wind-speed, the fan's impact, and airflow.
